At the end of this month Australian airliner Jetstar will begin a 2 week trial offering in-flight iPad rentals for their passengers. Rentals will be available for flights that are 90 minutes or longer.
Each iPad will be bundled with a wide selection of books, TV episodes, movies, music videos and games to help keep passengers entertained.
The cost to rent an iPad during one of Jetstar’s flights will cost AUD $10 which converts to roughly USD $8.40 depending on the exchange rate.
Bluebox has developed the first custom wireless iPad IFE (In-flight entertainment) system that is both flexible and secure.
If there is a demand for this service and all goes well during Jetstar’s trial then plans will be made to offer iPad rentals to all of their customers.
